The results of the nomination process for the positions of Chairperson of the Board and Member of the Board (Legal and compliance) of the JSC "Augstsprieguma tikls"
An open competition for the positions of Chairman of the Board and Member of the Board (Legal and compliance) of the JSC "Augstsprieguma tikls" (AST) was announced on May 24, 2023, with an application deadline of June 13, 2023. By the set deadline, a total of 53 applications were received, of which 26 were submitted for the position of the Chairperson of the Board, while 27 were submitted for the vacant position of Board Member (Legal and compliance). The candidate selection process took place in four rounds in accordance with the evaluation criteria approved by the Nomination commission established by the AST Council, and as part of them, the following competencies were evaluated in depth: strategic vision, change management, results orientation, development orientation, team management, decision-making, and responsibility.
In the first round of the competition, the commission assessed the candidates' compliance with the set requirements based on the submitted supporting documents. After evaluating all candidates' applications, the Nomination commission for competition second round nominated 10 candidates for the position of the Chairperson of the Board and 11 candidates for the position of Board Member (Legal and compliance) who had received the most points.
In the second round of the competition, preliminary interviews were conducted with the candidates for both positions with the support of the hired personnel company to verify the candidates' work experience and professional knowledge. Evaluations for the first and second rounds were collected and the candidates who received the most points were nominated for the next round, from which 7 candidates for the positions of the Chairperson of the Board and 5 candidates for the position of Board Member (Legal and compliance). Nominated candidates were asked to prepare and present a vision of AST's main future challenges, providing insight into the most important priorities and proposals for their implementation in the form of a presentation.
The third round of the competition took place using a semi-structured interview, during which the Nomination committee evaluated each candidate's knowledge, competencies, and compliance with the specific set of criteria. During the interviews, the Nomination committee also evaluated the strategic visions presented by the candidates. After collecting the candidates' evaluations for all three rounds of competition, for the final round of the competition, 3 candidates were nominated for the position of the Chairperson of the Board, while 4 candidates who had received the most points were nominated for the position of Board Member (Legal and compliance).
In the fourth round of the competition, the recruitment company conducted an in-depth evaluation of the management competencies of the candidates, collected feedback, and carried out an in-depth reputation check.
Summarizing the evaluations of the candidates for the four rounds of the competition, the Nomination commission made a decision on a total of 4 candidates in order of priority to be nominated to the AST Council for election for the positions of "Augstsprieguma tikls" Chairperson of the Board and Board Member (Legal and compliance).
The Nomination commission ended its work at the moment when the final decision on the results of the competition was made, i.e. on September 12, 2023.
An open competition for the positions of AST Chairperson of the Board and Board Member (Legal and Compliance) was organized by the Nomination committee established by the AST Council, consisting of 5 members with voting rights: Committee Chairman - AST Council Chairman Kaspars Abolins and members of the Nomination committee - AST Council Member Aigars Germanis, Head of the State Capital Companies Management Department of the State Chancellery's Interdepartmental Coordination Department, Dzintra Gasune, Head of the Association "Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Institute", Dace Helmane and Chairman of the Latvian Trade Union "Energija" Aivars Abolins. Taking into account the premature passing of Aivars Abolins, Janis Silarajs, a Member of the Latvian trade union "Energia", joined the Nomination commission members on August 16, 2023. The Nomination process was implemented in cooperation with LLC "Executive Search Baltics" (Amrop).
